Lace Up For Kids

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Community leaders are taking extra steps to see that students start the school year off on the right foot.

This is the 28th year Wendy’s, Eastside Community Ministries and WHIZ have partnered together to get students new tennis shoes for the upcoming school year. Starting Thursday you can visit any of the local Wendy’s to drop-off shoes and/or cash donations to help towards the cause.

"Our goal as always to earn enough money and raise enough money to purchase 1,000 pair of shoes. After 28 years we’ve been able to service over 28,000 kids in that time. From Wendy’s perspective we’re excited because we’re going to be selling frosty T-Tags. For $1 you can purchase a T-Tag that will be good for 6 months and you get a free Jr. Frosty with every visit," said Tim Thompson, Owner of Wendy’s.

If your child is in need of shoes, Eastside Community Ministries is now taking applications.

"Basically you need to bring your house hold information, I.d, proof of income and proof of identification for each child in the home and you’ll fill out an application and we’ll get you registered," said Jamie Trout, Executive Director, Eastside Community Ministries.

Shoes will be distributed on August 15th at the Zanesville Civic League.
