Buckeye Elite Showcase invades Zanesville

ZANESVILLE – The road to a championship runs through the Y City for some of the top under-14 travel baseball teams in the region.
Gant Stadium and Jay Payton Field at Zanesville High School are serving as host sites for the Buckeye Elite Showcase with 14 games scheduled at each diamond.
"This is one of the most prestigious tournaments around," Muskingum Valley Old Timers Treasurer Jim Wright said. "We’ve got teams from Canada, Indiana… and of course some from Columbus."
The Zanesville All-Stars are one of the 48 squads taking part in the four-day tournament.
"Our Zanesville team gets to play with these 14-year-old teams which are really good competition for them, hopefully improving our 14-year-olds here in Zanesville," Wright said.
The Buckeye Elite Showcase is also holding tournaments for under-15, under-16 and under-18 age divisions. Scouts from the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Royals and Pittsburgh Pirates have attended games in the past, according to the tournament’s website.
