Zanesville Businesses Want ‘Sensible Regulation’
Proposed new regulations coming out of Washington are affecting small business…
The National Federation of Independent Businesses held a news conference at NAPA Auto Parts in Zanesville Wednesday morning to discuss the issue. Owner Kelly Moore said the new rules are making it harder to run her small business.
"There are regulations on the equipment, the training, the documentation… Are all making it much more difficult for a small shop to continue. The regulations have been enforced for a long time on many of the standards, but they continue to increase the standards, which is going to cut out the small people who can actually afford to do it," said Moore.
The NFIB launched the "Small Businesses for Sensible Regulations" effort to protect small businesses from the regulation impacts. Moore said one organization in particular is causing problems for her.
"The EPA is probably the biggest problem that we are having to deal with, and I say problem because they continue to become more strict, they continue to set unattainable air qualities, especially for small businesses."
NFIB Executive Director Roger Geiger said over 800 regulations affect small businesses in the state of Ohio.
