Drone Enthusiast Shows Off His Talents

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Flying drones is one of the biggest hobbies out there today. Using remote controlled devices to take pictures and video is quickly becoming one of the country’s favorite pastimes.

Wednesday evening at the Zanesville Library drone enthusiast Jeremie Silver showed off his drone to people interested in getting into the hobby. Silver has been in the hobby for about a year now. He said he enjoys electronics and photography, so the combination of the two really intrigued him.

“I enjoy seeing things from a different perspective,” said Silver. “I love the photography aspect. There’s a perk to seeing things that you’d never see unless you were in a plane, and let’s face it, you’re not going to go up in a plane everyday.”

Silver’s drone that he displayed Wednesday can fly as fast as 35 miles per hour and legally can go as high as 400 feet, although he has seen them go much higher. He said that with a little practice it isn’t that difficult to master the controls, and it is a hobby that he would recommend for anyone to get into.

“It’s a fairly inexpensive hobby depending where you take it. You start with a few bucks for a little cheapo, you crash it, you practice with it, and ultimately you get up into the thousands. But definitely start with a cheap one. It can be addictive. You’ll find yourself thinking of where you’re going to take your next shot. You might sometimes plan a day off for where you are going to go,” said Silver.
