Organizers Gear Up for the Perry County Fair

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A full week of entertainment and good food kicks off this week.
The Perry County Fair will open Monday in New Lexington. We talked to 4-H Educator for Perry County, Jessica Rockey who oversees the youth program, who said they are preparing for the start of the week. She described this time as the quiet before the storm.
"Today is getting everything set and ready. If you were outside you will see a lot of animals moving in, campers pulling in and getting set up. Right here is our Junior Fair Head Quarters office and kids are sorting trophies and making sure ribbons are counted out so as the shows start for live stock this week all of those will be ready to go," said Rockey.
Rockey has been apart of the fair board for the last 12 years and tells us they are excited to introduce something new to the fair this year.
"Then actually new this year, or coming back to the fair this year is ‘Perry County Idol’ on Friday night. Some of our local talent are getting to kind of show off and win some prizes there. Then we have our ‘Junior Fair Live Stock Sale’ is on Saturday morning starting at 10 o’clock," said Rockey.
The fair opens at 7:30 Monday morning and will run through Saturday evening. Admission is $8.
