Cambridge Man Guilty In Shooting Death

A Cambridge man is found guilty in a 2011 fatal Cambridge shooting.  On March 8th last year Cambridge Police say 43-year-old Michael Smith shot and killed 21-year-old Kyle Carter on North 9th Street after an argument.  Guernsey County Prosecutor Dan Padden says the six day trial of Smith ended Monday night with a conviction.  Smith was found guilty of murder, attempted murder, felonious assault – all with gun specifications and one count each of grand theft and having weapons under disability.  Padden says Smith was also convicted of a violent offender specification.  A pre-sentence investigation has been ordered.  Padden says Smith will be sentenced on May 23rd at 1:45 p.m. in Guernsey County Common Pleas Court
