Standoff Ends in Perry Co.

The New Lexington Police Department said a stand-off with a 31-year-old New Lexington man came to an end over an hour after it began.

The police department said at around 6:30 Wednesday evening they received a complaint in the 300 block of North High Street.

The man who authorities said is on parole with the State of Ohio had taken a hostage and had access to a firearm and a knife.

New Lexington Police along with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team surrounded the home. At 8pm the male exited the home and was taken into custody for a mental evaluation.

Local emergency medical crews attended to his self-inflicted injuries.
