2019 Hospitality Awards

Award

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Three area hospitality employees are being recognized for their service to the community.

In celebration of National Tourism Week, the Zanesville-Muskingum County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau is honoring employees in the hospitality industry. Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, Kelly Ashby said these employees are the front line to meet and greet the guests that come into Muskingum County.

“It’s just so important that they are aware that we appreciate them. And we know what a wonderful, fantastic job they do and make our guests feel welcome to Muskingum County. So it’s our honor and our privilege to thank them and congratulate them and honor them for being a part of the tourism industry,” she said.

The Muskingum County businesses nominate employees and give information as to why they stand above in hospitality. A selection process is then made where three are chosen each year. The award recipients this year are Holiday Inn Express employees, Latonya Williams and Lacy Vaughn. Also Jerry Thompson, a volunteer at the National Road and Zane Grey Museum.

“Well first of all, first impressions mean a lot. So when a guest comes in we show them excitement, smiles, hospitality,” said Williams.

“We’re glad that that they’re here. We want them to come back, we have a lot of regulars and we treat them like family. And we get the feeling like they are,” Vaughn added.

All three received a plaque, a Zanesville-Muskingum County t-shirt, and gift certificates.
