Hot Air Balloon Fest Takes Flight
Coshocton County wrapped up it’s Frontier Power Hot Air Balloon Festival Sunday, June 10th.
The annual event celebrated it’s 31st year with a craft show, flea market, food vendors and carnival rides. According to Coshocton Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Carol Remington a weatherman must be present to determine whether or not the balloons may take off. Pilots participate by invitation only as the event can be dangerous and there is limited area for flight.
"We’re pretty limited to the number of pilots that we can have mainly because of the space that we have to launch the balloons and this is a great venue so we really don’t want to leave the Coshocton County fairgrounds," said Remington.
The night glow is the prime event to watch at the festival.
"The night glow is an event where several, maybe six to eight balloons will line up along the track where we launch our balloons and they will inflate and as their burners glow then the whole envelope which is the balloon will glow," said Remington.
The weekend ended with balloons taking off into the night sky, ending another successful year of the festival.
