Congressman Troy Balderson Discusses Infrastructure

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – May 13th through 20th is the 7th annual infrastructure week, and a local Congressman is discussing its significance.
Infrastructure week involves education and advocacy efforts to highlight how infrastructure is a critical issue impacting everyone. Congressman Troy Balderson serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and said infrastructure is all about the safety of our roads and bridges. The investment in the nation’s infrastructure can also lead to jobs for Americans.
“Just to make sure people are aware of it, make them aware of the importance of it. And have that understanding of what it does for communities, and what it does for States, the jobs that it creates, it employs people,” Balderson said.
“It’s the people that use these roads on a daily basis. And it’s important that we keep these people safe and that we have a sound infrastructure,” he added.
Balderson added that as a bipartisan issue, everybody can agree on the need to fix the roads, bridges, and highways. In Congress, they are listening to ideas and ways to find the funding for infrastructure projects.
“We always say we want to raise taxes. Well there’s other ways out there that we can go about doing things. There’s regulatory issues that we can look at that saves money, there’s p3s that we can discuss. And that’s kind of what we’re hearing in Congress right now,” he said.
It is estimated infrastructure investment will create up to 27,000 jobs for Ohioans by the year 2028.
