Memorial Day Service at Zanesville Memorial Park This Monday

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A longtime Memorial Day tradition in Zanesville will honor those who have died while serving their country.
Zanesville Memorial Park is hosting their Memorial Day service on Monday with the participation and cooperation of many local citizens and organizations. The service features Colors from American Legion Post 29, music from the West Muskingum High School band, 21-gun salute from the VFW, a tribute of silence, and more.
“Basically it’s a good day for remembrance. It’s a good day for families to join in the mourning that they have. Like I said it’s a good final farewell to the loved ones here that they’ve lost in the past year,” said Ohio District Manager for CMS East, Gary Glunt.
The park always honors all veterans with the entrance of the park featuring a monumental war memorial paying tribute to nearly one thousand Muskingum County residents who served in World War I. And also a bronze plaque honoring area veterans who served during World War II and the Korean War. Glunt said that most importantly, even after several decades, their Memorial Day service continues to grow.
“It’s a good event for anybody that’s lost this past year or any time in their life. It’s a nice community bonding event also just to be here with your neighbors,” he said.
The service takes place Monday morning at 9:45 a.m. Zanesville Memorial Park asks the community to try to come in early for parking reasons, and all cell phones must be turned off during the service.
