Rambo Health Center’s Air Conditioner Program

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – With the Summer and hot weather approaching. Rambo Memorial Health Center has air conditioners available for residents with a respiratory diagnosis.
The air conditioners are meant to assist those with breathing problems during hot or humid weather. To qualify to receive an air conditioner you must have a prescription from your health care provider stating your diagnosis and that you would benefit from the use of the AC. You must also bring proof of all income for everyone in the household, such as a W-2 form, bank statement, or SSI statement. Air conditioners are limited one per household, and you must not have received one from Rambo within the last year 3 years.
“Due to the fact that we are respiratory clinic, and the heat really takes a toll on a lot of people with their respiratory problems. And this is just another way that we want to help the community to better their lifestyle and their quality of life. We’re very fortunate that we can do that,” said Rambo Registered Nurse, Andrea Retherford.
Rambo Health Center would also like to remind people, especially the youth, of the harms of vaping. Retherford said teens engage with vaping for reasons such as the flavors of the juice and their small size. But vaping can cause lots of problems and affect the developing brain.
“For our young people their brains are still developing at the age of 20. So they’re causing problems with their brain. If it was a pregnant woman that was using them then she is dangering and there’s a high risk that there’s going to be a problem with her infant as far as the brain development,” she said.
Rambo Health Center offers programs for smoking cessation and one on one programs for the youth on vaping. They are also giving out 100 air conditioners in total, where they will be available for pick up from Home Depot with the completed steps taken to receive a voucher from the Health Center.
