Update: Body Recovered From Muskingum River

DRESDEN, Ohio – A body has been pulled from the Muskingum River near Dresden.
Shortly after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call from a pedestrian. Captain Jeff Lecocq said the pedestrian was walking on Gene Cox Memorial Drive when they observed a body in the Muskingum River.
Falls Township Fire Department, Dresden Fire Department, Dresden Police Department, and the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office were all dispatched to the scene. A boat was used for the recovery of the body near the Route 208 Bridge. As of right now, there is no identification on the body, although Captain Lecocq does confirm it is a male.
“What we have been able to recover is the body of a male. His identity is not known at this time,” he said.
“There’s just an on going investigation. Early stages, and we’ll wait for the Coroner’s report to come back,” Lecocq added.
The County Coroner has ordered for the body to be sent to the Licking County Morgue for an autopsy. Further details will be made as the investigation continues.
