CEO & President of APEG Speaks At Noon Rotary

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The CEO and President of the Appalachian Partnership For Economic Growth spoke at the Zanesville Noon Rotary Club meeting Tuesday afternoon.
Mike Jacoby leads the organization otherwise known as APEG which serves 25 counties in Eastern and Southern Ohio. Jacoby updated the club on how APEG works on a variety of strategies involving economic development. Also how they partner with local entities like the Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority.
“We work on business attraction, business expansion, site selection, site competitiveness. And then other issues on economic development,” said Jacoby.
Jacoby said one of the things APEG is working on right now is a strategic planning process to figure out how communities can prosper in the future. He added that will revolve around being appealing to young, skilled people. Which may mean improving the downtown areas, more focus on education, or recreational opportunities.
“There’s all kinds of things that as a community I think we’re needing to look at. I think Zanesville’s starting to do that. But as our region as a whole thinks about the future that’s one of the things we’re going to have to put a lot of emphasis on,” he said.
