Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and ZPD work together on shooting investigation

PENNSVILLE, Ohio – On Wednesday, June 26th at 4:09pm, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of gunshots being fired and someone possibly shot within the small, rural community of Pennsville located in Penn Township approximately .5 miles southwest of McConnelsville.
Upon Deputies arrival, it was found that all parties involved had fled the scene. Deputies secured the area and started the investigation by gathering witness accounts and processing evidence left at the scene. Notification was made to all surrounding law enforcement agencies.
At 5:15pm, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from Genesis Police Department advising that they just had a walk in gunshot victim. They stated that the victim was dropped off in a car matching the description of the one from our crime scene.
Another notification was sent out and within minutes, the Zanesville Police Department was able to stop the vehicle in question and make an arrest on one occupant. A second occupant fled on foot and was soon after apprehended.
Further
investigation and evidence gathering will continue in the next couple
days with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and Zanesville Police
Department working jointly.
