Gorsuch Fitness Trail Closing For Renovations

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A local fitness trail will soon be getting a makeover and offering a better walk experience.
The Gorsuch Fitness Trail at the Genesis Hospital campus is going to be reconstructed to provide an improved area for the community. The Genesis Volunteers raised money for the new trail project through the fundraisers throughout the year, such as “Trees of Love” and their flower show in May. The project will entail new asphalt, a special rubberized surface on top, and the removal of tree roots.
“The Trail was originally built in 1981, and there was some resurfacing that took place in 2006. And it’s time to do a really big job in doing an overhaul,” said President of Genesis Volunteers, Robert Laprad.

The Genesis Volunteers were determined to conduct the project because they wanted to give back to the community. On days with nice weather, more than 100 people will take advantage of the Trail. The Trail is known to be the ideal area to enjoy nature and exercise.
“The community really helps us and they stand behind us. And since the hospital into preventing illness. This is a nice way to get into shape, in fact that’s what it was made for years ago when they decided that exercise would make people healthier,” said Treasurer of Genesis Volunteers, Carol Kohler.
The Trail will be closing on Monday, July 8th. The project is scheduled to be completed in the Fall.
