Pottery Lovers Week in Muskingum County

Pottery Week

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Pottery lovers from across the country are gathering in Muskingum County this week.

The Zanesville-Muskingum County Convention and Visitors Bureau is holding their annual Pottery Week from Tuesday, July 9th through Saturday July 13th. The week attracts thousands of pottery enthusiasts who can take part in a variety of events.

“Beautiful, beautiful displays. Beautiful pieces of pottery. Very knowledgeable folks, collectors from all over the United States here to sell, purchase, trade, talk about pottery,” said Zanesville-Muskingum County Vice President of Chamber of Commerce, Kelly Ashby.

Pottery Week has been going for more than 30 years with a significant history. Ashby explained that the region was rich in clay and that lots of artists were inspired to design and paint the pottery that was made.

“It’s a great time to just to be a part of the history and the heritage with our pottery connection. We definitely were once known as the ‘Pottery Capital of the World’ as well. And it’s a big thank you to those companies that were here and producing pottery but also a big thank you to collectors,” she said.
