Operation Spirit’s Third Annual Garage Sale Fundraiser

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – One local group is holding their biggest fundraiser of the year to help troops overseas.

The third annual Operation Spirit’s garage sale fundraiser is taking place Friday and Saturday. Director of Operation Spirit, Melodie Pittman sells goods from household items to furniture, and plenty of gently used pieces. All the money raised helps with the care packages Operation Spirit provides for the troops. It’s a convenient opportunity for people to shop but also support a great cause.

“This is the big fundraiser we do and this helps carry us through the Fall and actually pretty much pay for our Christmas shipping,” Pittman said.

The mission of Operation Spirit is to give out support for troops by showing appreciation and gratitude for their service through things like sending care packages.

“There’s still a lot of troops deployed in places. Last Christmas I sent supplies for 300 stockings to a base in Mongolia, it was a multi-national base, but Christmas stockings made it,” she said.

The fundraiser garage sale will be held at 3290 Bowers Lane on Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
