United States Senator Sherrod Brown holds meeting in Zanesville

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – United States Senator, Sherrod Brown held a round table discussion Friday afternoon at the Zanesville Chamber of Commerce.
Senator Brown talked with representatives from Local colleges and universities, as well as health care representatives and other community members. Brown held the meeting in efforts to increase workforce training for students. Senator Brown wants to have young Ohio residents sticking around the state while having a quality job.
“You look at what O-U, O-U Zanesville does for the community. You look at what Zane State means so that kids can go through, mostly young people right out of high school or sometimes older. Training them and giving them opportunities locally, because some people want to go see the world and move to California or New York but most people, if the job is right they want to stay close to home,” Senator Brown said.
Senator Brown said holding meetings like these allows him to learn things about the community. Brown also discussed the Affordable Care Act and how beneficial it is to Ohioans.
“I worked with Governor Kasich he a Republican, I’m a Democrat, on expanding Medicaid so that literally hundreds of thousands of Ohioans have health insurance that didn’t have it before the Affordable Care Act and these are mostly people that are making 8, 10,12,15 dollars an hour or their employer doesn’t provide health insurance but they have it because of the Affordable Care Act,” Brown added.
Senator Brown said the round table meeting went very well, and he looks forward to working with the local representatives.
