ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A local organization is asking the community for extra produce donations.

Christ’s Table is looking for fresh produce to serve with their fresh meals daily. Executive Director, Keely Warden said with gardens blooming of fresh vegetables, she encourages people, especially gardeners and farmers, to bring in their extra produce just to help out.

“We are in much need here at Christ’s Table. Our shelves are bare. Next week is fair week, we’re trying to get through these next couple weeks with fresh produce. So if your garden is producing and you have extras, feel free to bring down here at Christ’s Table,” she said.

“It doesn’t matter how much you have. If you have it and you can donate it, it’s a great thing,” Warden added.

Warden stated that Christ’s Table is very adamant about serving fresh meals everyday and the produce donations are a good way to serve a fresh salad with every meal. The salad also helps maintain a healthy meal as well.

“We work really hard to make sure that the meals that we’re serving here are not only hot but nutritious. And so, it’s not that we mind opening up a can of green beans. But if we know that we can cook fresh green beans, potatoes, and ham it’s much better for the people that we’re serving,” she said.

The produce that is not used on the line, Christ’s Table provides bags for those who would like to take it home. You can bring produce donations to Christ’s Table from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday. If you have a truckload, you can go to their back door, and they can help you unload.
