Muskingum County Fair Preparations Underway

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Preparations are underway at the Muskingum County fairgrounds for the 173rd Muskingum County Fair.
Tents were already being set up along with the ride company putting up rides around the Fairgrounds. The booth spaces will be filled on Wednesday and Thursday. Secretary of the Fair Board, Doug Guinsler said a lot of activity will be taking place the next few days as preparations continue. Several individuals and community organizations even participated with a Fair clean up day that took place on July 27th.
“We had I’d say right around 100 people participate. Different 4-H clubs, different volunteers. Had a lot of participation from different merchants in the county and everything went well,” Guinsler said.
“We want the people to feel at home. And we want them to enjoy themselves while they’re here,” he added.
Kick off for the Fair is on Sunday, August 11th with a Veteran’s Day promotion, all veterans get into the Fair for free. Sunday Fair events will include a harness racing at 1 p.m., Jr. Fair parade, and Jr. Fair awards will be given out that day. Guinsler encourages everyone to come out and enjoy the entire Fair week.
“If some of them haven’t been here for a while. Sometimes a lot of it is the same old things as when we were kids. We just invite everybody to come out and take a good look at it,” he said.
The Fair runs from August 11 to 17th. General admission including parking is 8 dollars daily, and can be purchased at the gate.
