Auditor’s Sale of Forfeited Properties in September

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – If you are looking to purchase some land, this opportunity could be right for you.
The Muskingum County’s Auditor’s Office will be holding an Auditor’s sale of forfeited properties. The sale will take place on Wednesday, September 4th at 10 a.m. at the Courthouse. The sale is open to all interested in purchasing property and will be sold at the best price. Muskingum County Treasurer, Christina Hamill said this is the opportunity to attend and make a purchase on these lands.
“Well we just had so many on the forfeited lands list that we wanted to try to move some of those properties. This will be the first sale of three. So hopefully we will have two more by the end of the year,” she said.
A list of the 34 parcels and information are available on the Auditor’s website. Payment is required by 3 p.m. the day of the sale. Also, forfeited lands cannot be sold to anyone who is a delinquent on their own real estate taxes, unless they are paid prior to the sale date.
“These properties will be sold at the best price obtainable by competitive bidding. And once you receive that bid, and it is accepted. Then you will receive a title free and clear of all liens, except for future taxes,” Hamill said.
To pre-register, you can visit the Treasurer’s Office the morning of the sale between 9 and 9:45 a.m. You may also download a pre-registration form from the Auditor’s website, muskingumcountyauditor.org.
