Ceremonial Weapons Donation to American Legion Honor Guard

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A generous donation was made to a local group honoring veterans and the community.
The Veterans Appreciation Foundation donated four new rifles to the American Legion Post 29 Honor Guard. Honor Guard uses the ceremonial weapons to provide funeral honors for fallen comrades. The shots fired reminds everyone of the commitment and bravery of the individuals who have protected the country.
“When a ceremonial rifle does not fire, it’s not really in keeping with the dignity and the honor that we want to express to that veteran and that veteran’s family. So the rifles that they had here were not doing so well, they were old. And it was very important that we replace them so that they can be a part of that ceremony honoring the fallen,” said Secretary for Veterans Appreciation Foundation, Becky Joseph.
The Veterans Appreciation Foundation raised the funds for this donation from their June fundraiser. Their purpose is to raise funds to engage in activities, programs, and services that help to improve the quality of life for the veterans in the area.
“There are so many generous sponsors in our County that love our veterans and want to see an improvement in their quality of life and services that they can access. And we’re just the arm to be able to allow them to do that. And so the funds we raise go right back to veterans and their families,” said Joseph.
