Commissioners Set Aside Money for Land Bank

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — The Muskingum Co. Commissioners are setting aside $5,772.50 for 2019 salary and benefits for executive director of the county Land Bank.
“They’re tasked with taking tax-delinquent properties that haven’t sold at Sheriff sales and trying to make them become tax-producing and otherwise good properties,” says Andrew Roberts, Land Bank Executive Director. Roberts says the Land Bank, which is officially known as the Land Reutilization Corporation.
Roberts says they have helped to revitalize one residential street near the County Fairgrounds.
“Mead Street is the first one that comes to mind. The Land Bank partnered with Habitat for Humanity to transfer recently demo[lish]ed lots and Habitat came in and they are still currently building on Mead Street. It has had a tremendous impact on that neighborhood,” he added.
The Land Bank currently holds thirteen properties.
