Don Denman Leads Seniors’ Classic
On a hot Tuesday morning, the best senior golfers from around the state competed in the first round of the 48th Annual Zanesville Seniors’ Classic at Zanesville Country Club. A tough course setup and muggy conditions made scoring difficult, as not a single player shot in the 60s. However, Don Denman capitalized on his scoring opportunities, shooting a two under par 70 to take a one shot lead over defending champion Jim Spargrove and Circleville native Rick Macklin. Just two shots back at even par is 2010 champion Joe Hamilton, who was five over after five holes before turning it around on the front side (he started on #11), shooting a four under par 32 to jump back into championship contention. The final round will be a shotgun start on Wednesday morning (weather permitting) at 9:00 AM.
