Zanesville Salvation Army looking for turkeys, other donations
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Salvation Army is looking for donations for their annual Thanksgiving dinner.
They’re asking for turkey, dressing and pie donations for their dinner at the facility and home deliveries.
“We’re doing a Thanksgiving dinner and what we need from them is dressing, turkeys and pies. ‘Cause we served about 1,200 last year — and that’s what we doing now,” an employee Bill Gheen said. “We can serve out there anywhere from a thousand to 1,200. Also we do homebound meals for anybody that needs a meal taken to their home. They can call us at the Salvation Army and we will deliver them. We do about 500 home deliveries.”
Gheen says serving the community is a rewarding experience.
“It’s a great feeling to see them come in — you know — where we can serve them. They can sit down, we serve them, we can fellowship with them. We talk to them — you know — and they see people that they don’t see from year to year. And it’s really a great feeling.”
Everyone is welcome to attend the dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. To have a dinner delivered to your home, contact the Salvation Army.
