St. Nick Fest Underway

The community comes together to have fun and help out an elementary school.

The annual St. Nicholas Fest kicked off Wednesday. The festival runs through Saturday behind the Bishop Fenwick school. The event wouldn’t be possible without the help of hundreds of volunteers.

"Everyone here are volunteers, there’s over four hundred shifts that we fill each year. It takes a lot of coordination, and a lot of time with the community and the church," said this year’s chairperson, Betsy Farrell.

The fest features live entertainment every night, games, rides and lots of carnival food to entice visitors. All the proceeds go to help keep tuition down at the Catholic school.

"I think the last couple days have gone really well, we’re expecting to see a large crowd tonight and tomorrow night. The weather has been very cooperative this year. We usually have to deal with rain and so far knock on wood we haven’t," said Farrell.

The festival will stay open Saturday until midnight.
