Fair Housing Review

The county commissioners received an update on housing concerns within Muskingum County Monday.

Fair Housing Services delivered their fiscal report detailing calls from Muskingum County on the fair housing hot line. Of the fifteen total calls received September through July the majority were related to tenant and landlord issues. Only one of the calls appeared to have fair housing implications.

"I think it’s important that the commissioners be aware that their are concerns throughout the county with regard to issues that affect people and their housing," said Fair Housing Services Director Cheryl Staron.

Fair housing services has an agreement with the commissioners to provide education and outreach services to residents of Muskingum County.

"I feel the opportunity for someone to be able to take advantage of educational opportunities is very important, you wouldn’t want to start a business without knowing what the ground rules are, I feel it’s pretty much the same way with landlords and tenants," said Staron.
