Zanesville mayor announces updated plans for office

Mayor Don Mason

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – It’s been three weeks since Mayor Don Mason took office.

Today he spoke with the Zanesville Noon Rotary Club about his plans for the city and what he’s been addressing since starting in office.

“Right after I got elected I started trying to study up on the issues that are ongoing. There’s a lot to do — it involves renovation of Gant Stadium which is the middle school baseball stadium. Trying to take a look at Doug Road and what is the most economic yet safest way of approaching that issue.”

Mason says he has been working with the Ohio EPA and the Attorney General’s Office to clean up some areas in the city.

“People always want to know about the old mosaic property on the corner of Dryden and Pershing — as well as Linden Avenue. Those I’m working with the Attorney General’s Office as well as the Ohio EPA on addressing both those issues now. At the end of the day, my recommendation is going to be to other government leaders, to city council — we’ve got [to] put these properties back to use to benefit Zanesvillians.”

Mason says he is opening his office to speak with residents and groups about what they would like to see during his mayoral term.
