Police ID armed robbery suspect fatally shot by police

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Police on Monday identified an armed man they say was fatally shot by an officer after an attempted robbery at a restaurant in Ohio.
The robbery suspect shot behind a Bob Evans restaurant in Columbus on Saturday was Joshua James Brown, 34, according to Columbus police. They said Brown was wearing a hockey-type mask when he entered the restaurant around 7:45 a.m. Saturday and demanded that the manager open a safe.
Brown fled without the money after the manager failed to open the safe and was shot in a confrontation with officers behind the restaurant, police said. He died later at a hospital.
Police said the officer who shot Brown has been placed on administrative leave, according to department policy, while the investigation continues.
A handgun believe to have been used in the attempted robbery was found at the scene, police said.
