ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Winter is usually a sad time for golfers & fans of the sport. For them, there’s not much to do this time of year.

The Zanesville District Golf Association is seeking a reprieve from the winter-time dry spell by hosting its annual Golf Show on Saturday at Eagle Sticks Golf Club in Maysville.

“It’s our opportunity to raise some money, first of all, for our local scholarship program. We gave out over $7,000 last year for scholarships for kids to go off to college who have been through our ZDGA program, and through the years we’ve given over $80,000 to kids to go off to college,” says Mike Durant, Head Golf Professional at the Zanesville Country Club.

Durant tells WHIZ News the Golf Show is an opportunity to get local golfers and fans a chance to refresh their spirits about the game.

Three major golf equipment manufacturers, Callaway, Mizuno & Wilson, will have displays there.

“You know, golf, here in the winter time is tough and we’ve been blessed this winter to have a mild winter so far, not a lot of snow, but you can’t get on the golf courses all that much, so we want to inspire people to keep golf in the forefront of their thinking, and know that it’s just around the corner,” Durant adds.

Tickets are available for $5 apiece. Children 18 and under will be admitted for free with a paid adult admission.
