Zanesville organization giving away free prom dresses

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – With winter formals and prom right around the corner, some may see a fun and glamorous night but others know the night comes with a hefty price tag.
Becky Clawson is the event coordinator for Princess Blessings. The event donates dresses to any girl in the area who needs a gown. She says dresses are a huge expense for families.
“These events are so expensive for parents. Most of the dresses that are donated to me — original value is somewhere between $600 and $1,000 for most of these dresses and so that on top of shoes and hair and makeup and dinner and whatever else they need. I’d just hate to see a girl miss out on such a fun experience because of that.”
Princess Blessings is this Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Clawson says there are plenty of dresses to choose from.
“Right now, I have a collection about 700 dresses that we bring into the Welcome Center on Saturday, February the 8th and we will be in here from 10 to 1. Girls can come in and shop, everything from princess-style, fluffy ballgowns to sleek, mermaid style to something goddess-y. Whatever they’re looking for I probably have it.”
Clawson says they’ll be holding an event in Perry County for the following weekend.
