ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Volunteers with the annual Tree of Love holiday fundraiser at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville present Hospice with a donation check to assist with medical supplies for home-bound patients.

“It’s one of our fundraisers for the volunteers at Genesis and each year out of that we give Hospice a quarter of what we make for their patients. That’s what this, that’s what we’re here today. We’re here to give Ms. Pebbles an $8,000 check to help them take care of the Hospice patients in our community,” says Carol Kohler, a Volunteer with Tree of Love.

“Genesis Hospice is community-based. We do not turn anyone away regardless of what they can afford or cannot afford, and so all of their care is supplemented by things like this,” says Pebbles Thornton, R.N. & Hospice Director. “Well, it helps with the cost of medications, of durable medical equipment for patients, the nursing care, all of our bereavement care that we give as well. It just helps to cover anything that is not covered by insurance,” she adds.

According to hospital public relations staff, the Tree of Love was started thirty-three years ago by hospital volunteers.
