RIbfest Underway
Zanesville is getting fired up for ribs this weekend.
The Ninth Annual Solid Gold Ribfest started Friday. Earlier this afternoon vendors were still busy setting up in the parking lot across from Secrest Auditorium.
"We have experts doing everything. People are really good, they’re dedicated to what we do. The Ribfest is really a hit here in Zanesville," said vendor Maurice Crouch.
The Ribfest has attracted vendors from as far as Florida. The festival is a tasty and fun way to spend the weekend but it also helps raise money for scholarships. The Minority Business Resource Network of Southeastern Ohio sponsors the event.
"It’s hard work and it takes a lot of money, ideally we have a lot of different people around town that donate to us./EDIT/"We really, really need a major sponsor and that would make our job very, very much easier," said RibFest Chairperson Ernie Bynum.
Admission is free. The festival runs until midnight both Friday and Saturday.
