Port Authority Moves Closer to Developing Business Park

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — The board of trustees of the Zanesville Muskingum County Port Authority has moved a step further toward finalizing the National Road Business Park, near the Airport, just east of the city.
“We’re getting very close to getting the final engineering complete, getting the bids out, and starting to market that continually as a destination for new business to come into our community. There are multiple sites. It’s a 203-acre site that was acquired in 2018 in a joint effort with the Port Authority, the County and the City. So, it’s very flexible in what can be offered to any potential end user looking for a site,” says Matt Abbott, Executive Director of the Port Authority.
The park is 203 acres, is visible from I-70 and is poised for rapid growth.
The Port Authority is also focused on another project, this time in Roseville, which straddles the Muskingum / Perry County line.
“There’s a lot planned in the coming years in taking tours of some of the sites that they’re looking at, some of the buildings that are being rehabbed. There are a lot of things going on in Roseville and my hat is definitely off to Heidi, the Mayor and their team down there. It’s exciting to see what small communities can do and we can all work together to make the quality of life in Muskingum County better,” Abbott says.
Port Authority directors are working with JobsOhio and the Appalachian Partnership for Economic Growth to brainstorm ideas of how to kickstart development in and around Zanesville.
