The Future of Work and Education Summit is set for Friday at Ohio University Zanesville/Zane State College. The featured speaker is Jamie Casap, Google’s education advocate.

One of the sponsors of the event is Muskingum University. “We decided to have a format in which we brought community members together, business, industry, healthcare, technology, higher education, and talk about our workforce needs and how we can prepare the workforce of the future here in our region,” says Dr. Susan Schneider Hasseler, President of Muskingum Univ.

The event will focus on speakers and a roundtable discussion about the future of work and incorporating technology.

“So, an example of the way we are integrating technology into our undergraduate programs is a really fun project that’s happening as a collaboration between our education department, our computer science department and our engineering department in which we have students designing a cart that uses facial recognition to actually accompany a student in a wheelchair and carry her books and materials,” Dr. Hasseler adds.

The summit is set to begin Friday morning at 9 a.m. and continue until noon. This is the third summit on the issue and is being organized by Ohio University Zanesville, Zane State College and the Zanesville Muskingum County of Commerce.
