The New Concord Fire Department was called to an early Monday morning fie. It happened around 4:15 am at 740 Lodge Road. Chief Brent Gates says the fire started in the basement of the home. Three people were in the house at the time of the blaze and were able to get out safety. Gates says it took crews about 20 minutes to knock out the fire, but the home suffered serious smoke damage and is currently unlivable. The homeowners are staying with nearby family. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. There were no injuries reported. The Perry Township Fire Department provided mutual aid at the scene.
