ZANESVILLE, Ohio- In honor of National Public Gardens day Russ Edgington held a plant sale from his greenhouse.

The sale is an annual sale and Edgington says that this sale was a success even with the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is an annual event that we have each year as part of our national public gardens day celebration. Which was actually yesterday but we always celebrate the Saturday before Mother’s Day… At this point we’re pretty much shutting down, because we’ve almost sold out of all of our plants… We had over 75 vehicles at one point, waiting for people to come in and do their shopping so it was very successful.”, Edgington said Saturday afternoon.

Edgington also says that his plants were more safely bred this year.

“We started back in early March. We were very fortunate this year, ya know greenhouses are a breeding ground for pest species of insects, and you usually have to use chemical pesticides and stuff. This year we pretty much was able to keep everything under control with just a diluted mixture of Murphy’s oil soap, so for those folks who like to attract butterflies to their gardens.”

Be on the lookout next spring for the next plant sale.
