Two local businesses given high accolades at Port Authority Meeting

ZANESVILLE – The Muskingum County-based company Shelly and Sands Inc. and Saunders Machine Works were both given the large business excellence award respectively from the Eastern Ohio Development Alliance earlier this month.
“It’s great to be able to recognize those companies and, you know, they continue to grow, grind, and do what they do on a daily basis so, you know, just to provide them with a little bit of thank you and gratitude goes a long way for any of our companies that exist,” Port Authority President Matt Abbott said.
The Port Authority also discussed development at the National Road Business Park.
“(At) National Road Business Park, Shelly and Sands was actually awarded the bid to start construction on there. We have construction starting there within the next week or so to begin the access road project, water sewer, on site so we’re very excited to get that project kicked off and get that moving forward,” Abbott said.
Abbott said that there will also be a bid opening for the ongoing AMG Vanadium project at the County Commissioner’s Office Thursday.
