CAMBRIDGE, OH – Cambridge Intermediate School is proud to announce that they are one of 200 finalists in contention to receive the State Farm Neighborhood Assist Grant.

CIS now has the opportunity to be one of 40 organizations to win a grant of $25,000. To win the grant they will need the help of the community.

“We are so thrilled to be a part of the top 200 to begin with. And from here going forward we’re asking for the public vote to get to that top 40. So you can go to the link that will take you directly to our voting page. It’s also on our Cambridge Facebook Page, Twitter, Instagram, you can check us out there. All of the kids will be bringing home a flyer today from CIS on different ways to vote.”

Reading Intervention Specialist Jennifer Eubanks pursued this grant over the summer in hopes of winning the grant to start a new program at the intermediate school.

“So the grant was written for a RISE Program. RISE stands for Reading Inspires Students to Excel, and it’s a reading intervention program that is systematically laid out so that the kids work on word study, phonics, writing, and comprehension skills. The systematic approach is really concentrated and really focused and it’s a wonderful program, we can’t wait to have it here.”

Voting begins today, September 23rd, and runs through October 2nd. Those 18 and older can vote up to 10 times a day. The top 40 organizations receiving a grant will be announced on November 4th.
