Hobson honored by Muskingum County Commissioners for his efforts to fight hunger

ZANESVILLE – Assistant Fire Chief Doug Hobson was presented an honorary certificate that recognized his dedication to going above and beyond and coordinating many food drive collections or distributions throughout the year to help bring food to the hungry. Hobson was appreciative of the recognition but says that’s the smallest thing he considers when going about his mission.
“It means a lot. You know, I’m not in it for that. It’s nice to get the recognition from the Commissioners but my main goal is to make sure that everybody in Muskingum County, if hungry, should not be. That’s our main goal. No one should go to bed hungry at night and that’s why this is so important to us,” Hobson said.
Hobson is perfectly fine with working towards the goal to end hunger without receiving the slightest thank you in return.
“We are not looking for any thank you’s at all. We just, again, and can’t reiterate enough, it touches us deeply in the heart just to know that those families that may have been able to buy a gallon of milk, might not have got a bag of potatoes, a protein box that are fifty dollar value going to everybody’s homes… the thank you’s are nice, absolutely, but right here is where it’s touching us,” Hobson said.
Hobson said the community will be receiving 1,500 more food boxes next week. The next item on his agenda is getting food to residents in income-based aparments.
