Salvation Army Looking For Turkey Donations

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-The Salvation Army of Zanesville is looking for donations of turkeys for their Christmas meals.

The turkeys can be donated by businesses or individuals at the Salvation Army’s office. Women’s Auxiliary volunteer Susan Stotts talks about the need.

“The thing we’ve run into is: as many turkeys as we need is expensive. We are here today to ask for turkeys. We need approximately 300 so that we can give at least our families that have three and more a turkey for Christmas.”, Stotts told WHIZ.

The Salvation Army sees the need for turkeys as more than just a need for food.

“Everybody wants to have a memorable Christmas season, memorable holidays. I know a lot of the children that the army serves, they get meals from schools. Christmas, there is no school. In fact for a couple of days, I don’t know how long they take off. For a couple days, there is no school.”

The first date due for turkeys is Monday, December 14th.
