Chief Coury: Human Remains Confirmed at Chaps Run Park/State Lab to Continue Investigation

Zanesville Police Chief Tony Coury says the discovery in Chaps Run Park was confirmed to be human remains. He says officers were called to the scene Friday after a passerby found what appeared to be a body. Chief Coury says he then called for the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification to help with the case. Coury informed BCI agents on the scene of two missing persons in the city and that could aid in the identification process. Coury says it may take a week or two before BCI agents perform a DNA test in an effort to confirm an identity. Chaps Run Park is in the 1200 block of Ridge Avenue.
