Zanesville Mayor Don Mason Meets with Muskingum County Commissioners

ZANESVILLE, OH – Zanesville Mayor Don Mason met with the Muskingum County Commissioners today to discuss a policy change within the Building Department.
Mayor Mason is a big advocate for cooperation between City leadership and County government. He explained how they are working together to make a possible change with future staff.
“So right now the City and the County work together through the Building Department, operated by the county and we’re good partners. In the near future one of our top staff members will be retiring and I’ll be able to replace the person with an architect and so I thought this is a good time to take a look at the contract and revise and enhance it. So it’s just getting an opportunity to sit down in open sessions just to discuss some ideas. And then I’ll go to City Council with sort of the final package that we work out.”
Mayor Mason stressed the importance of government working together. He says cooperation ultimately saves the tax payers money.
“I think what the people of our state, of our county, of our city, really want is to know that government works together, that we cooperate together. Because citizens understand that if there’s cooperation that means we’re not wasting tax payer dollars. And the other thing that’s good is we’re getting a multitude of ideas as we approach today’s problems.”
Mayor Mason said he appreciates the partnership with the commissioners right now and looks forward to that partnership continuing into the future.
