Animal Shelter Society shares this week’s pet as well as offers refuge for animals

ZANESVILLE – This week’s pet that would love to find its forever home is a 3-year-old Pomeranian Terrier mix named Brian.

“He has great energy. He would be fantastic in any type of home. He can be in a very quiet home with older folks and he would do great with small children. He’s an all-around great dog (and) he’s ready to go today with the proper application and approval and a meet and greet,” Animal Shelter Society General Manager April Cohagen – Gibson said.

For the first time, the Society is allowing people who don’t have a place to stay during the very cold weather drop off their pets at the shelter for the weekend.

“Myself, my Animal Care Manager, and a couple of other staff members are going to be here tonight until 7:00. Please feel free to stop by the shelter. We will take in your animals so that you can find housing. There is no charge for that. We keep them in quarantine, feed them, and make sure they’re warm,” Cohagen – Gibson said.

The pick-up time for the animals is on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
