MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- Secretary of State Frank LaRose made a visit this morning to the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce.

During a meeting with local business leaders, LaRose met and discussed his two main responsibilities: helping people vote and helping people start businesses.

“Connecting with a group of community leaders like this is at the heart of what I do, so that we can find out ways to continue growing Ohio’s economy and making sure that our elections are both secure and accessible,” Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose said.

2020 was a challenging year for everyone. LaRose said in the midst of all of it, Ohioans stepped up, ran an honest election and entrepreneurs found creative ways to start businesses. By the end of last year, 171,000 new businesses started in Ohio. Ohio also saw record breaking numbers in election ballots cast.

“When it comes to elections, we are well versed at doing this. Ohio has been in the national spotlight for close to 20 years and so it’s no surprise that both Ohio and states like Florida did really well. We have professional election administrators in each county that are very dedicated to this work… We’ve passed good laws over the years in Ohio. We have four weeks of early voting. We have four weeks of absentee voting, so anybody that wants to can vote from the comfort of home or come in and vote in person early and of course on Election Day, we have 4,000 polling locations open around the state,” LaRose said.

During the meeting, LaRose answered questions and gave advice about businesses who have experienced economic downturns.
