County Commissioners meet to discuss Water Projects

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The Muskingum County Commissioners met this morning with the Muskingum County Water Department to discuss upcoming water projects.
The water department is looking to extend water projects into various areas in Muskingum County. The department’s project director Don Madden said they are looking for additional funding to help with the projects.
“Under today’s circumstances, these projects wont pay for themselves without some additional funding and so we were looking at the plans to be able to move forward with them and since the commissioners may be receiving some federal funding, whether it would be wise to use that funding as the gap to make these projects viable,” Muskingum County Water Department Project Director Don Madden said.
Nine projects have been designed or are getting ready to be built. This will allow public water to connect to existing systems and extend them to other areas.
“All these areas that we’re talking about extending water to the residents of those areas have petitioned for the water, so they’re anxious to have public water extended to them,” Madden said.
Madden said once construction starts that many of the projects are significant in size. He expects one of the large projects to take a year to complete.
