Heath: 10 Westland: 0

Heath scored 8 goals in the first half and added another 2 in the second to beat Westland 10-0. The Bulldog’s Allie Dunlap scored 5 goals while Brielle Keck added another 2. Taryn Gamble, Megan Devito and Kerilyn Davis added a goal a piece. Hailey Smith was the winning goaltender making 5 saves.

Volleyball:

Philo defeated Zanesville in two sets 25-9, 25-6 in a tri-match. The Electrics went on to defeat Logan 25-19 and 25-18.

Maysville defeated Rosecrans 25-6, 25-20 in a tri-match. Hannahs Fulkerson had 3 aces, 1 block and 14 assists. Rachel Jarvis added 5 aces and 1 kill. Izzy Hutchinson also added 5 aces, 1 block, 4 kills. Jayda McGarvey had 5 kills. The Panthers went on to win again Crooksville 25-23, 25-21. In that match Hannah Fulkerson had 3 aces, 17 assists and 4 kills. Izzy Hutchinson had 2 aces and 3 kills. Mallori Bradly added 3 aces and 3 kills. The Ceramics Taisia Riggs had 11 assist, 5 digs and 1 ace. Grace Frame added 2 aces, 2 digs and 8 kills.

Crooksville defeated Rosecrans in their first match 28-26 and 25-17. Kenzie Printz had 6 kills, 9 digs and 3 aces. Grace Frame added 5 kills, 1 assist and 1 dig. Khirra Wilson added 5 kills and 1 dig. Mylee Moorehead had 2 kills, 4 digs and 1 kills. Ellie Ferguson had 4 kills, 1 assist, 1 dig and 1 block.

Tri-Valley beat Ridgewood in 3 sets.

West Muskingum split their tri-match on Saturday. In the first match they defeated Lakewood in two sets. Kyler Moore 8 kills, Sydney McWhorter added 6 kills and Rebecca Strunk 4 kills. The Tornados were defeated by Fairfield Union 25-18 and 25-23 in a close second set. Kyler Moore had 11 kills and Rebecca Strunk 5.

New Lexington Varsity defeats Alexander in 4 sets (22-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-19) – Jerilynn Koehler: 1 ace, 10 blocks, 15 kills, 1 dig – Aubri Spicer: 2 blocks, 13 kills- Lizzie Ellis: 1 ace, 25 assists, 1 kill, 5 digs – Nora DuPerow: 2 aces, 7 kills, 8 digs – Bryanna Wright: 4 aces, 17 assists, 2 kills, 3 digs 

Cambridge Volleyball won 3-0 in a match with Steubenville Central Catholic. The scores were 15-25, 21-25, 21-25.

OHSAA Early High School Season Invitational:

Newark took 20th out of 43 teams in the Division 1 Girls 5k. Gwen Stare finished 53rd in a race that featured over 370 races. Her time was 20:45.7. Teammate Nadia Liason finished 75th with a time of 21:23:4. Allison Dietz was 96th with a time of 21.29.1. Kennedy Firth finished in 164th with a time of 22.41.3. Amelia Boon finished with a time of 23:23:21 for a 200th place finish.

Newark boys cross country finished 37th out of 43 teams in the Division 1 Boys 5k. Senior William Chiacchira finished 105 with a time of 18.16.7. Sophomore Jacob Brechbill finished 194 with a time of 19.05.6. Freshman Luca Stukey had a time of 19:45.4 for a 248 place finish. Andrew Schweiger was 260 with a time of 19:53.1. Jalen Johnson added a time of 20.18.5 for a 293 finish.

In the Division 1-2 Girls Open 5k it was Newark’s freshman Ava Wooburn in 17th place with a time 23:49.8. Sarah Warner was in the 106 spot with a time of 23:49.8. Newark’s Grace McCray finished with a time of 27:41.2 for a 133rd place finish. Aziah McGuire was in 136th place with a time of 27:55.2. The Wildcats Megan Rosengarten finished 144th for a time of 28:14.5. As a team Newark finished 17th in the race out of 22 teams.

It was River View taking 21st spot in the race. They were led by Sophomore Kirsten Courtright with a time of 27.18.3 for a 124 place finish. Senior Shyanne Rahn finished 134 for a time of 27:45.9. Cortney Bookless was 153 with a time of 28:44.2. Taryn Tumblin finished 161 for a time of 29:16.6. Leah Allen added a time of 29:59.7.

In the Boy’s Division 1-2 Open 5k Newark finished in the 25th spot out of 29 teams. Sophomore Matthew Stone finished in 131 spot with a time of 21:41.3. It was Lincoln Schmidt in the 148 spot with a time of 21:59.1. Karter Blake added a time of 22:51.2 for a 181 finish. Charlie Pyle came in at a time of 207 with a time of 23:42.5. Joshua Wilkins finished with a time of 23:48:6 for a 211 finish.

Turning to the Boys Division 2-3 5k it was River View who took home a team finish of 11. John Glenn was in the 16 spot, Buckeye Trail finished 38 and Ridgewood 44.

River View was led by Javin Robinson and Sam Adams who finished 33 and 34 with times of 18:00.2 and 18:00.9. Drew Tublin was in 77th place with a time of 19.09.0. Hunter Miller was 111 with a time of 19.47.7. Aidan Stevens-Woolery finished 170 with a time of 20:55.0.

John Glenn’s John Tooms finished the day with a 3rd place finish with a time of 16:48.5. Kody Clendenning was 113 with a time of 19:50.0. Caiden Lake finished 124 with a time of 19:59.8. Ian Davis had a time 20:33.8 for a 155 place finish. Braylon Buchanan was 161 for a time of 20.38.8.

Buckeye Trail was led by Austin Hastings at 219 with a time of 22:10.6. Wesley Schontz was 234 with a time of 22.31.3. Bryce Eagon added a time of 22.45.3. Dawson Morton was at 273 with a time of 23.45.1. Blake Hoop added a time of 24.26.8 for a 288 finish.

Ridgewood’s Robert Gaston finished in 300 place with a time of 24.48.8. Brodi Hardesty had a time of 25:06.0. Aydan Salmon 27:41.1 for a 354 place finish. Cohen Miller was at 356 for a time of 23:47.5 and it was Keaton Stone at 386 for a time of 30.47.7.

In the girls Division 2-3 Open 5k John Glenn finished 13. Brea Wilfong finished in the 56 spot of 23:35.6. At the 89 and 90 spots it was Waverly Yurco and Grace Lawrence. They finished with times of 21:41.0 and 21:41.9. Laurie Baughman was at 135 with a time of 26:13.9 and Kylynn Barr at 146 with a time of 26:47.1.

In the All Girls 5k it was Newark who finished 20th, John Glenn 58 and River View 73.

Newark was led by Gwen Stare at 59 with a time of 20:45.7. Nadia Liason finished in 88 with a time 21:23.4. Allison Dietz finished with a time of 21:49.1 for a 116 finish. Kennedy Firth finished at 207th for a time of 22.41.3. Amelia Bone ran a 23.23.1 for a 270 finish.

The Muskies were led by Brea Wilfong with a 293 for a time of 23:35.6. Waverly Yurco got 418 with a time of 21:41.0. Grace Lawrence finished just behind at 420 with a time of 24.21.9. Laurie Baughman finished at 561 with a time of 26:13.9. Kylynn Barr rounded finished in 597 with a time of 26.47.1.

River View was led by Kristen Courtright at 636 with a time of 27:18.3. The Black Bears Shyanne Rahn was 655 with a time of 27:45.9. Cortney Bookless ran a 28:44.2 for a 706 place finish. Taryn Tumblin finished 726 with a time of 29:16.6. Leah Allen finished in 749 with a time of 29:59.7.

In the Boys Combined 5k River View finished in 42, Newark 51, John Glenn 52 and Ridgewood 90.
