The Zanesville Pickleball Group Donates Money to Eastside Community Ministry

Pickleball Donation To Ecm

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- There have been many pickleball tournaments played by the Zanesville Pickleball Group, however, this time they decided to donate the money raised to the Eastside Community Ministry (ECM).

Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the world, according to Jim Bryan, a member of the Zanesville Pickleball Group. He stated the group raised $450 during the tournaments and explained how donating the money came about.

“Well, we were deciding to do a tournament and it just started out that we just wanted to charge a dollar just to have a good time. Then someone says let’s make it a benefit and so we thought Eastside Community Ministry would work out great, which we raised it up a little bit to $10, but we did really well,” Bryan said. “It was able to collect money from people that’s not even here today and some people gave extra. We have $450 dollars we want to give to Eastside, so we appreciate what they do in the community and we think this is a great thing for us to be able to do for them.”

When asked how it feels to be receiving the donation, Jamie Trout, Executive Director at ECM shares how it’s such an honor for the organization to be thought about.

“We’re honored to be chosen because as you know there are so many great charities in Muskingum County so when they called to say that they picked Eastside Community Ministry, that just really lets us know that we’re doing something that people believe in. So we are so grateful for that,” Trout said.

Bryan added that they chose ECM because of the notable work they put into the community. He said they plan on doing the same thing next, but for a different organization and they would also like to raise money for field lights for when they play in the evening.

If you would like to get involved with Pickleball, all you have to do is show up to the field at Maple Hill Park located off Taylor Street around 9:00 or 9:30 a.m. or 4:30 p.m. and members will be there to assist.
