Quad Center Project Receives Tax Credit

Muskingum University announces it has received a State Historic Preservation tax credit for a major renovation project.
The Quad Center project earned a $982,000 tax credit. It’s one of 24 projects in the state approved for the funding. Vice President for Finance and Operations Philip Laube said renovations at the Quad Center, provides direct services to the students and will increase the utilization of the facility.
“We’re doing the renovations in two phases. The first phase was the addition of the elevator and the renovations we’re sitting in right now, the second phase will be the remodeling of the Impact Center and some additional accessible restrooms,” said Laube.
The Quad Center will house the campus bookstore, a café, fully accessible restrooms and the Impact Center, which offers comprehensive career preparation for students from their first day on campus and beyond.
“That programing is really big for helping us helping students find purpose, while they’re at school, find what they want to do and come out with a true understanding of their chosen vocation and some hands on learning that goes through it,” explained Laube.
The Impact Center will be complete in 2023. The renovations cost $3.8m with some funding coming from the tax credit, a Strengthening Institutions Grant and Aramark the university’s dining service provider.
